Thanks to someone who posted the video to YouTube with Bulgarian and English subtitles, here are the lyrics to 'Vithrar Vel Til Loftárása'.  One of these days, I'll find out how to make the Icelandic 'th' letter on my computer.

Oh, and in other news, Jónsi, the lead singer, is gay.  Yes!  A cute celebrity crush who might actually respond favourably... if circumstances were right.

According to Wikipedia:

"Viðrar vel til loftárása" is Icelandic for "good weather for airstrikes". During the war in Kosovo, an Icelandic weatherman said, "í dag viðrar vel til loftárása," meaning "today, it is good weather for airstrikes". The band named the song after this.

Here they are:

I slide forward
Through my head.
I think halfway
Backwards,
See myself sing the anthem
We wrote together.

We had a dream.
We had everything.
We rode to the end of the world.
We rode searching,
Climbed skyscrapers
Which later exploded.
The peace was gone.
Balance leaks out.
I fall down,
Slide forward through my head.

I always return to the same place.
Total silence.
No answer.
But the best thing God has created
Is a new
Day.

An antithesis to 'God Hates Fags' [Feb. 13th, 2007|08:00 pm]
I just found this last night, and while it's not a happy one, it's preferable to that c**t with the guitar.  Sigur Rós, 'Vithrar Vel Til Lóftárasa'.

So what do you all think... [Jan. 24th, 2007|04:53 pm]
about this?

And should I contact MySpace to ask them to consider whether it should be on their site at all?

If you haven't read 'His Dark Materials', don't read this. [Jan. 8th, 2007|09:59 pm]

You know, sometimes you happen upon a book about which you have heard a lot, and it has an effect on you which you could not have imagined.

How about testing 'the West's' tolerance for idiocy?  Those cartoons, as offensive as they may have been, did not kill six million people (not just Jews).  I cannot believe that they intend this event to be taken seriously.

Sarah: Girls rule, right?

Me: Actually, I beg to differ. Guys are much hotter.

And this is good.  I'm a big fan of dollar coins, and coins in general.

The wind sounds like an Orange band warming up for a march through central Glasgow, complete with percussion: the sporadic hail.  We even had a bit of thunder, but I'm not going to say what that symbolised.  Walking back to my room in a Highland hailstorm is not fun, though.

A friend e-mailed me this link yesterday.  I'm not a huge Star Wars fan, but-- just proving that my mind is always on the important things-- who else thinks that Mark Hamill (Luke) looks incredibly hot in the opening shot?
